    Paul Mines Appointed Non-Executive chair

    Lixea announces the appointment of Paul Mines as its Non-Executive Chair.

     

    Through his career, Paul has held a variety of leadership and chair positions with chemical manufacturers, packaging businesses and renewable start-ups. He is currently CEO of Biome Technologies plc, an AIM listed bio-materials focused group.

    Chrysalix, now Lixea, is one of 75 start-ups and SMEs who have been awarded a share of €278 million to accelerate their development. We are absolutely over the moon to receive €2.3 million in order to build our BioFlex pilot plant over the next two years.

    IChemE Young Researcher Award

    Lixea is over the moon about CEO and co-founder Dr. Gschwend being awarded the Young Researcher Award for her efforts developing the BioFlex process at the IChemE Global Awards. The award recognises the individual under the age of 30 who best demonstrates the impact of their research in helping to address important economic, environmental or social issues.

    2nd Prize at the EIB Social Innovation Tournament

    At the Social Innovation Tournament held by the European Investment Bank, Lixea (then Chrysalix) wins the second prize in the special category of Circular Economy. We are grateful for the recognition and support that comes with the prize!

    SuperBIO to support further scale-up work

    The team has been awarded a voucher under the H2020 SuperBIO programme to carry out more scale-up work together with two industrial partners. The work is scheduled to commence in July 2018.

    Dr. Gschwend has been awarded a prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowship which will support her for the next 12 months to further develop Lixea (then Chrysalix Technologies) into a sustainable business.

    We are excited to announce that the team won the runner-up prize at the Climate Impact Battle organised by ClimateKIC at Slush in Helsinki. 10 finalists were selected from ClimateKIC accelerator cohorts all over Europe. Learn more about what Chrysalix does in this video.

    At the EIT Innovation Forum INNOVEIT held in Budapest, Florence is awarded the EIT Change Award for her work with Lixea (then Chrysalix) and ClimateKIC. Watch the short interview here.

    Climate KIC Venture Competition

    Lixea (then Chrysalix) pitches in the Climate KIC Venture Competition and comes second, taking away a EUR3k prize as well as a ticket to Slush which takes place in Helsinki at the end of November.

    Scale-up work

    After the initial proof-of-concept work at the BDC in York, Jason and his team are awarded a Royal Society Translation award to scale-up their process over the next 2 years. Chrysalix (now Lixea) is also awarded the BioBase4SME voucher to carry out work at the BioBase Europe Pilot Plant in Ghent. The work started in September and will be finished in January 2018.
